Antonio Conte may possibly be joined by three of his current Chelsea players at PSG next season. This is according to new reports.
The French champions are on course to keep their domestic crown but pressure on current boss Unai Emery has reached a breaking point following their Champions League demise at the hands of Real Madrid in midweek.
Despite breaking the world record to sign Neymar from Barcelona last summer and adding Kylian Mbappe to an already star-studded forward line, PSG have again failed to make a major impact in Europe’s premier club competition.
Emery is expected to depart at the end of the season and Conte, who is widely expected to leave his post at Stamford Bridge in the summer, has been earmarked as a potential replacement, along with his Tottenham counterpart Mauricio Pochettino. Regardless of whether or not Conte moves to the French capital, PSG have already identified N’Golo Kante as one of their primary transfer targets.
Chelsea are in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League for the second time in three seasons but even if they miss out, The Evening Standard claims Kante is unlikely to seek a move. Informal talks have already been held between PSG and father of keeper Thibaut Courtois, while Eden Hazard also remains a long-term transfer target. Neither Belgium international is said to be keen on joining the PSG project, but the future of both Belgium international’s remains a subject of much speculation.
Courtois is yet to commit to a long-term contract, while Hazard recently criticised Conte’s tactics the defeat against Manchester City and admitted he did not like operating in the false nine position he has occupied of late.
