APC Expels Aregbesola Over Anti-party Activities

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially expelled Rauf Aregbesola, a former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, over alleged anti-party activities.

Aregbesola had led a faction within the APC known as The Osun Progressives, later rebranded as the Omoluabi Caucus.¹

The expulsion letter, titled “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You,” accused Aregbesola of breaching Article 21 of the party’s constitution. The letter stated that the State Executive Committee (SEC) found clear evidence of Aregbesola’s actions undermining the party’s unity and integrity.

Interestingly, Aregbesola’s expulsion follows a Sunday meeting where the Omoluabi Caucus announced its decision to exit the APC, citing the party’s waning influence in Osun. It seems the APC is taking a strong stance against anti-party activities, but some argue this move may be seen as an afterthought, given Aregbesola’s already-announced departure from the party.
