Going by reports, Arsenal is eyeing a swap deal where Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be offered to Barcelona in exchange for out-of-favour winger Ousmane Dembele.
Aubameyang’s future continues to be of major concern to the Arsenal hierarchy – with the Gabon international’s contract set to expire next summer with no renewal in sight.
Meanwhile, Dembele has failed to hit the ground running at Nou Camp since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund – being restricted to just five La Liga appearances during an injury-hit 2019-20 campaign.
Mundo Deportivo claim that both sides are desperate to find a feasible solution for their players and a straight-swap deal is a realistic option.
With the coronavirus pandemic threatening the omission of big-money moves during the summer window, swap and part-exchange deals are likely to become commonplace as clubs are forced to reassess their transfer strategies.
Nevertheless, the Catalan giants are supposedly not giving up in their pursuit of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, and Dembele is one of several first-team players that the La Liga side would be willing to offload in order to raise the required funds for Arsenal’s captain.
