Chelsea have now completed the €100m (£90m) signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz and an announcement is set to be made shortly.
Frank Lampard’s side have already made five signings this year and are looking to further strengthen their squad ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
The Germany international has been strongly linked with a switch to the Premier League side in recent weeks and, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a deal is now over the line.
Romano claims that Havertz agreed terms with the Stamford Bridge outfit last week and Chelsea have matched Leverkusen’s valuation.
However, the 21-year-old is supposedly still to undergo a medical, which is the final hurdle to clear before an official announcement can be made.
Speaking on Monday, Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz confirmed that he does not expect Havertz to play for the German club again.
Havertz will become Chelsea’s sixth signing of 2020, following the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr.
