Chelsea players fear Eden Hazard will seek a move away from Stamford Bridge that is if Antonio Conte remains at the club. This is according to reports.
The 27-year-old will have just two years remaining on his contract this summer and the Premier League champions are desperate for him to sign a new deal. Chelsea is prepared to pay the Belgium international over £300,000-a-week to stay at Stamford Bridge but the forward is yet to commit to a new deal.
Going by the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea’s players are concerned about Hazard’s deteriorating relationship with Conte and believe that the Italian’s tactics have frustrated the forward.
The report also claims there is the belief among the squad that Hazard will look to leave if Conte sees out his contract with Chelsea – a move which Roman Abramovich is reportedly considering.
Hazard’s relationship with Antonio Conte is reportedly deteriorating. Hazard is also understood to be holding out to see if Real Madrid follow up their interest with a concrete offer this summer.
Earlier this month, Hazard made it clear that he was unhappy with Conte’s tactics following the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in which the Belgian played as a false nine, while Chelsea failed to register a shot on target.
‘When you leave the pitch you have the impression that you’ve run, but that you haven’t played a game of football,’ Hazard said after the match at the Etihad Stadium. ‘That’s a pity. We could have played on for three hours and I wouldn’t [have been able to] touch a ball.’
