Nigerian actress and movie producer Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha has entered the 40’s gang, joining the likes of Funke Akindele, Omoni Oboli, and Uche Jombo.

Nigerian producer and film actress Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha was born 12 March 1980, in Lagos State. She hails from Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria.
The 40-year-old completed her primary education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos and then proceeded to Federal Government Girls College Onitsha, Anambra State for her secondary education. She then headed to Lagos State University, where she studied Banking and Finance.
Chioma’s acting career began with her debut in the movie “The Apple” in 2000. She also acted in ‘The Handkerchief’ in the same year. In 2007, she received the “Best Actress in a Lead Role” award at the African Movie Academy Awards for the movie Sins of the Flesh. She has starred in more than 350 Nollywood movies. As a filmmaker, Chioma has produced/co-produced over 8 movies including the award-nominated blockbuster On Bended Knees.
Chukwuka has served as a brand ambassador for a number of Nigerian and international commercial brands, including Globacom Nigeria, a telecommunications company, Omo Detergent, Harpic Cleaner and brand ambassador for Erisco Foods in November 2018.

Chukwuka who married Franklyn Akpotha in 2006 announced the launch of a capacity-building platform called Masterclass With Chioma In January 2019, where aspiring talents, especially actors, are taught by seasoned filmmakers, screenwriters, actors and other industry professionals on what it takes to make it in film, TV, and theatre.
In 2010 Afro Hollywood award nominated Chioma for best Actress in a Leading Role and she won. She also won Best Actress for Africa Movie Academy Award in a Leading Role, in the movie Sins of the Flesh in 2007.
