Vanessa Trump has finally filed for divorce against husband Donald Trump Jr. This move follows speculation that the couple, who got married in 2005, was set to call their marriage quits.
She filed for divorce in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday afternoon, Page Six reported. It is believed that the US president’s daughter-in-law is not asking for full custody of the couple’s five children.
Their split follows rumours that the couple have been living separate lives, in part due to Donald Jr’s travels and his role in his father’s administration.
The couple have rarely been photographed together in recent months and were seen together just once during a holiday break at Mar-a-Lago. Donald Jr. is said to have taken his son Donald III to the club’s New Year’s Eve party instead of his wife.
Speculation over the couple’s marriage came after Vanessa opened an envelope full of white powder addressed to her husband last month. The scare happened at the family home in New York’s Upper East Side. It left Vanessa feeling nauseous and requiring hospitalization, but the powder was later determined to be corn starch.
On Monday Daniel Frisiello, who sent the letter, was released on bail by a judge pending his trial. Frisiello, from Massachusetts, has been barred from using the internet or sending any mail.
