Four bodies have been evacuated and three rescued alive in the three-storey building that collapsed at Oyesonuga Street, Isolo Road area of Mushin, Lagos.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the development on Friday evening.
The building caved in around 12 noon on Friday with people trapped in the debris, as rescue operation has been intensified.
Oke-Osanyintolu disclosed that as at 7:49pm, four bodies had been retrieved from the building, which included the bodies of two male and two female.
He said three people had been rescued so far and taken to the hospital.
“After a painstaking search, one female has been rescued from the rubble. This brings the total rescued alive from the incident scene to three.
“The victim has received first aid at the scene and has been transferred to hospital. Four bodies recovered (2 male and 2 female) and they have been handed over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) for on ward deposit to Mortuary. Operation ongoing,” he said.

Earlier, the permanent secretary said on arrival of LASEMA Response Team (LRT) at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a 3-storey building had collapsed at aforementioned address.
“Further investigation revealed that the collapsed building was an adjoining building to another 3-storey building.
“Two people who were trapped inside the building have been rescued and treated, However, we were informed two female that are occupant of the building are still missing. Search and Rescue operation is on going.
“LRT, LASG fire, LNSC, LABSCA and NPF are all responders at the scene. However, there are visible cracks on the remaining standing building that needs urgent attention. Building has been cordoned off and evacuated,” he said.
