Drake’s two Grammy nominations for 2022 have been withdrawn from the website.
According to reports, the decision was made at the request of Drake and his management.
A source at the Recording Academy has told Newsbeat that the Academy chose to recognize his want.
The reasons for this are presently unclear, with the rapper’s representatives not yet responding to a request for comment.
Drake was one of five appointees for Stylish Rap Album, for Pukka Nut Boy, and for Stylish Rap Performance, for Way 2 Sexy.
On the Grammy’s website it states the two nominations have been removed, with no relief entries, meaning voting for those two orders will go ahead with just four appointees.
Drake has had a tough relationship with the Grammys in the history.
Last time he called for it to be replaced with a new awards show after several artists, including The Weeknd, were overlooked.
“I suppose we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every time by the dissociate between poignant music and these awards,”he said at the time.
“This is a great time for notoriety to start commodity new that we can make up over time and pass on to the generations to come.”
Before this time, the Grammys scrapped their anonymous voting panels following allegations of rigging, favouritism and racism.
The Recording Academy said its voting members-which run into thousands-would rather elect coming time’s nominations and winners.
In 2017, Drake was unhappy over the distribution of awards after his single Hotline Bling was nominated for-and won-stylish rap song.
” Indeed though Hotline Bling isn’t a rap song, the only order they can manage to fit me in is a rap order,”he said on his OVO Radio show.
” Perhaps because I have rapped in the history or because I am black, I can not figure out why.”
A time latterly he refused to submit his number one reader Further Life for consideration at the awards.
And after returning to the awards form in 2019, he blamed the Grammys, and award shows in general, on live TV.
“I want to take this occasion while I am over then to just talk to all the kiddies that are watching this, aspiring to do music,”Drake said.
“I want to let you know we are playing in an opinion- grounded sport not a factual- grounded sport.”
Drake’s entries aren’t the only changes made to this time’s nominations.
Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff and Annie Clark have been removed as part of the list of appointees on Olivia Rodrigo’s stylish reader nomination for Sour-as they were inaptly named as fullco-writers.
One of Marilyn Manson’s two nominations-both for working with Kanye West-has also been removed.
He’s no longer nominated for stylish rap song as a writer on Kanye West’s Jail.
But his nomination for Kanye’s album Donda-up for album of the time- still stands.
