Cristiano Ronaldo was ruled out of the Coppa Italia round of 16 clash between Juventus and Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong’s Udinese on Wednesday due to illness.
Juventus made the announcement in a statement released on the club’s Twitter handle prior to the kick-off of the game.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was hit in the afternoon by a sinusitis attack and will not be present at the Allianz Stadium for tonight’s match.”
Ronaldo has been in superb scoring form for Juventus this season, netting 10 goals in his last nine games in all competitions.
Juventus are the most successful team in the history of the Coppa Italia with 13 titles, with their last triumph coming in 2018.
For Udinese, they have never won the competition, finishing runner-up in 1922.
