Imo State Lawmakers Impeaches Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere

Mr Eze Madumere, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, has been impeached.

Mr Madumere was impeached by 19 of the 37 members of the Imo House of Assembly. The lawmakers had before now received a report by a panel put together by the state chief judge which allegedly indicted Madumere of gross misconduct.

The development was sequel to an order of the state high court on Monday which restrained the lawmakers and the state chief Judge, Paschal Nnadi, of any further action on the impeachment proceedings against the embattled deputy governor until the matter was decided by the court.

Journalists and visitors were barred from accessing the legislative chambers as the lawmakers impeached Eze Madumere.

The impeachment move was set on the motion by majority leader, Lugard Osuji, who represents Owerri Municipal; and seconded by Victor Onyewuchi, representing Owerri West LGA.
