Joshua Says He Wont Fight Wilder In America

All is not yet set for the fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Plans have not yet been finalised, as the British-born Nigerian boxer has totally refused to fight in the United States out of concern over the judges and referees potential bias, MARCA reports.

The conversations between the two parties continue to be held, however, and Joshua, along with his representative Eddie Hearn, has been the most recent party to make a move and take the lead in the negotiations.

Matchroom Boxing, who has masterfully handled the boxer’s career thus far, is only ready to accept to make the jump to the United States under their own conditions.

Not even the whooping offer of £50m from Wilder’s team to have the fight in Las Vegas has managed to convince Hearn.

Additionally, Joshua has already expressed what the sine qua non is for the fight.

“I owe it to all those who have been supporting me in Great Britain, I must make an effort to get this fight to be in the United Kingdom,” he said in an interview.

“Wilder has said ‘well, great, come fight with me in the United States’. But the thing is that I owe it to my fans to do it here.”

Going by Joshua, there is also a second reason to prevent the battle from taking place on US soil.

“Secondly, if I go to the US, there are many tricks that can be done in terms of referees and judges, and that is why I want it to be at home,” Joshua explained.

However, the Englishman has not closed the door on the fight despite the location still being yet to be determined.

“Fortunately, we have enough time to make the fight happen and we are working on it,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Joshua has cut coffee and sugar from his diet to maintain a perfect mental health balance, according to The Sun.

The world heavyweight boxing champion acknowledges the impact unhealthy food and drink can have on his mood in the build-up to a fight.

Joshua, 28, believes he needs a positive, upbeat attitude to life as his pursuit to become king of boxing could send him crazy.

He said, “I try not to look at the negatives in life because if I did, I would probably have depression myself. It is very tough out there.

“I look at the good of it. I keep on rolling and having fun.

“Don’t let the highs get to your head. And don’t let the failures get to your heart.

“Try to keep a good balance. That is the main key. Aim to keep balanced.

“I tried to stop drinking coffee as well because you spike and then you fall. It’s a big downer.

“Keep a balance across the whole board in your day-to-day life. Cut out sugar, it spikes you up.”
