Notable Nigerian Journalist/Activist/Pharmacist/PR Specialist accuses Nigerian-American popstar Davido of SEXUAL HARASSMENT. Wants apology to all women who underwent FGM.
In what seems to be a constant attack against journalists in the world and especially Nigeria, the veteran multifaceted Journalist reported something unfavorable about Davido alleging his well publicized relationship to student and chef Chioma Rowland had ended.
Olunloyo is a veteran in Entertainment news and celebrity gossip and was featured as one of the top 10 pioneer bloggers in the world 1999 in several US magazines.
Due to low exposure to celebrity news styles, most Nigerians feel reporting something negative about an entertainment figure is forbidden. Some go as far as hurling threats at the reporters courtesy of their idols. Olunloyo had two Twitter accounts permanently suspended days ago because of die hard Davido fans who threatened to “have her beaten.” Davido is the father of two daughters under the age of 10. He should be more sensitive to sexual harassment, sexually charged connotations and looking down on women who may actually be suffering from the emotional scars of #FGM. Davido is from the Yoruba tribe that performs FGM the most.
Olunloyo was a victim at five and recounted the horror of female circumcision without anaesthesia. She told International business times UK that the practice has indeed hampered most of her adult sex life and has publicly shared the story on social media prompting many international groups to take action. Most girls and women are silent she says. There is too much stigma. Many Feminist groups hailed her including renowned Egyptian/American Journalist and feminist Mona Eltahawy. “Today I urge Davido to set an example and end stereotypes of thinking a woman need sex when she’s perceived as frustrated. Your daughters will read this Tweet some day. Imagine if this were tweeted to them. Pls apologize to all of us women circumcision victims or not. Educate your male fans to reject those sexual stereotypes. Your mother passed away when you were very young. She’s looking down on you” she said.
