Koeman’s Barcelona Era Begins Without Messi As Star Fails To Show Up For Training

Ronald Koeman began his Barcelona era yesterday without Lionel Messi who missed both the pre-season checks and the training session.

Of course, this could also incur serious penalties for the Argentine.

Mundo Deportivo still went with a title that said ‘Koeman in command‘ and essentially outlined the Dutchman’s first day.

LaLiga also officially confirmed the schedule for the upcoming season as Barcelona face Elche on matchday 1.

The first El Clasico of 2020/21 will be played in October and the second one in April.

The player’s father, Jorge Messi, is expected to meet with Josep Maria Bartomeu this week and negotiate his son’s departure.

Speaking of departures, Ivan Rakitić was also excused from the first training session to complete his transfer to Sevilla.

The Croat is also one of the players Koeman doesn’t count on and he got permission to finalize his exit.
