Man U played Chelsea in Sunday’s premier league stand out fixture, and a lot of fireworks followed. Manchester United defeated Chelsea 2-1 via goals from Lukaku and Lingard sandwiched between a William stunner.
Here are the major highlights below…
1. We should focus on Willian…the main deal-
The Brazilian, following his great performance and goal against Barca in midweek and his goal in Sunday’s match, is definitely the main deal. His decisiveness, speed, and creativity have surely gotten a great boost from his injury layoff. Courtois, Kante, not even Hazard can claim to be Chelsea’s main player now, Willian is!!!!
2.Scott McTominay should still continue playing
The young midfielder, McTominay, brought in previous matches to replace Paul Pogba, has shown that he deserves a run in the side as he man marked Eden Hazard to full effect and he didn’t look lost in this star-studded game with more experienced players. Mourinho shouldn’t bench him just because he is a rookie as he has delivered well when called upon. The young player, who has a strong positional awareness is definitely a player for the future …. but also a player for now!
3.Lukaku
Lukaku is a great finisher of the ball, no doubt. But his overall passing ability, ball control and tracking back needs to improve drastically if he is to be considered one of the best strikers in the world- after all £75m should be able to get you all these qualities… right?
The player could also do with a supporting striker and in the training ground should work on his passing techniques. But using the second half as an example, Lukaku had a very good game and showed some improvements going forward.
4.Christensen needs more tutoring
Christensen, 21, played the full 90 minutes of Chelsea’s Champions League last-16 first leg tie against Barcelona on Tuesday, but his loose pass across his own penalty area led directly to Lionel Messi’s equalizer. The Dane has made 31 appearances for Chelsea this season, and Conte said: “Personally I forgot his mistake. When you are a player, during your career you can make a lot of mistakes.The defender has been hailed by Conte as the future captain of the club, but following his mistakes against Barca in midweek, and his mistakes against Man U today, he needs some serious defensive coaching as the player sometimes loses concentration in the heat of the moment. He is the reason Luiz isn’t playing but with such performances, it won’t be long till Luiz comes back to the side.
5.Lingard…. never have a lean guard !!!
Chelsea dropped their guard against Lingard, big mistake !!! They should have known by now that Lingard is a big game player who scores big game goals. Lingard has surely given Mourinho some serious headache and at the moment, Lingard shouldn’t be dropped, but there’s a problem, Alexis Sanchez must play. Surely Lingard should always be on this side as he assures you of pace, hard work and goals …
