Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to offload four of his fringe players this summer in order to free up funds to improve his Manchester United squad.
According to Metro, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Diogo Dalot could all be heading for the Old Trafford exit door in the upcoming window for a combined £60million.
The publication reports that Solskjaer has only been given a transfer budget of £80m to spend – which isn’t enough for his overhaul of the Red Devils.
Like everyone else, United have been severely hampered financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the previous summer window Solskjaer spent £92.4m on five signings: Donny van de Beek (Ajax, £40m), Alex Telles (Porto, £15.4m), Facundo Pellistri (Penarol, £10m), Edinson Cavani (free) and Amad Diallo (Atalanta, £37m) – although the latter officially joined in the winter window.
It is believed that the Norwegian is targeting a centre back, defensive midfielder, right-winger and centre forward – an outlay that will invariably cost more than £80m.
