Mario Baloteli, a former Manchester City striker, took to Twitter at halftime in the derby to mock Man United who trailed 2-0, courtesy of goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan.
Balotelli, who infamously displayed his iconic ‘why always me’ t-shirt after he opened the scoring in City’s seminal 6-1 win at Old Trafford back in 2011, took to social media to tweet;
Unfortunately for Balotelli and City, the Tweet spectacularly backfired with Paul Pogba scoring twice within 10 minutes of the second half. Pogba, who had been heavily criticised during the match by Gary Neville, dragged United back into the contest in the 52nd minute, capitalising on Ander Herrera’s instinctive chest pass. And two minutes later, the France international powered a header past Ederson from six yards out having been picked out by a perfect Alexis Sanchez cross.
And with 20 minutes remaining Chris Smalling, who had been at fault for Kompany’s opener, turned the game completely on its head, turning home another Sanchez cross from point-blank range.
