Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo has issued a statement addressing her ongoing lawsuit against her former label boss and music producer, Ezekiel ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Concept.
In a press release shared on her Instagram page, Chinwo recounted her professional journey with Eezee, which began when she worked as his background singer before becoming a signed artiste.
Following her refusal, Chinwo alleged that her working relationship with the producer became strained. She detailed a toxic environment where she endured verbal and emotional abuse, with Eezee allegedly making threats such as, “I will deal with you, I will mess you up, I made you who you are, I can shut you up, and nobody will hear you again.”
According to Chinwo, the hostility escalated during the fourth year of her contract, with Eezee intimidating, isolating, and bullying her. She also claimed he misled people about her availability for events. Despite these challenges, Chinwo clarified that her legal action was not about demanding her music catalog but rather to request transparency. Specifically, she wants the first three pages and the execution page of her 2017 contract—allegedly altered by Eezee—made public.
In her statement, she expressed gratitude to God and her supporters:
