Nigerian Correctional Service Confirms Suspension Of Senior Officers Over Bobrisky Bribery Scandal

The Nigerian Correctional Service has confirmed the suspension of senior officers linked to the Bobrisky bribery scandal.

This comes after the Civil Defence, Correctional Fire, and Immigration Services Board announced the suspension of four officers, including DCC Michael Anugwa, due to various corruption allegations.

However, things took a surprising turn when Anugwa appeared before the House of Representatives Investigation panel on September 30, claiming he hadn’t received a suspension letter. The Nigerian Correctional Service quickly debunked this, calling his denial an act of gross misconduct aimed at misleading the public.

To set the record straight, the Service revealed that four officers were suspended, effective September 26, 2024, to allow for further investigation. The suspended officers include:

DCC Sikiru Adekunle: Officer-in-charge of the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos
DCC Michael Anugwa: Officer-in-charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos
DCC Kevin Ikechukwu Iloafonsi: Officer-in-charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, FCT command
ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna: Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abakiliki, Ebonyi state

The Service assures the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and anyone found guilty will face punishment according to Public Service Rules and existing laws
