Alhaji Abdul Rafiu Ogunleye, a former Deputy Governor of Ogun State is dead as confirmed in a statement released by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary Mr. Kunle Somorin.


The Deputy Governor during Chief Olusegun Osoba’s tenure as a Governor of the state died at his hometown in Itele on Monday July 29, at the age of 79.

Governor Dapo Abiodun in his tribute to late Alhaji Abdul Rafiu Ogunleye, described him as an astute administrator and a politician per excellent who contributed immensely to the socio-economic and political development of Ogun State. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the late politician repose in Aljanna Firdaus and also give fortitude to his family to bear the loss.
