Pius Ifeadi the Chairman of Anambra East LGA, has been accused of physically assaulting the Head of Local Government Administration of the area, Chike Obuekwe, for raising alarm over his diversion of funds meant for the council.
Reports say Obuekwe was beaten up after he wrote a memo to Ifeadi to express his reservations over what he termed the massive corruption and diversion of funds in the council. Ifeadi who is said to be the political godson of the state governor Willie Obiano, did not take the revelation lightly.
A source in the local government said “Ifeadi invited Obuekwe to his office and attacked him physically, using his shoes and other instruments available, leaving him wounded, particularly in his head,”.
Obuekwe through his lawyer, Gab Muoneke Esq, petitioned the Anambra state police Commissioner, shortly after the attack. Obuekwe’s lawyer in his petition narrated how his client was assaulted for stating the obvious which is the diversion of funds under Ifeadi.
In an interview with newsmen, Ifeadi admitted having “a little misunderstanding” with Obuekwe but said that the matter has been resolved.
