Jose Mourinho, Manchester United manager, has revealed that he will be without six first-team players, for Monday night’s trip to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will all be absent from the squad.
United could be in third place by the time they kick off in South London, should Liverpool beat Newcastle at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Mourinho is determined for his side to get a win ahead of facing the Reds next weekend.
But at his press conference on Friday, he admitted that his squad will be the same as the one he picked against Chelsea at Old Trafford last Sunday.
“No Phil Jones, no Marcos Rojo, no Daley Blind.
“We don’t have them. So the situation hasn’t changed. The squad is the same,” he told MUTV.
Fellaini will be out for at least a further two weeks after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.
“He’s still a young player,” Mourinho said speaking about Fellaini.
“His injury had a little surgery, but a minor surgery, and he will be back to play again in a couple of weeks.
“If we proceed in the Champions League beyond Sevilla, I think he will be ready for a hypothetical quarter-final. He will be ready for a hypothetical FA Cup semi-final. He will be ready for the last couple of months of our Premier League fight.”
