Robbers Attack NNPC Staff In Kano, Cart Away N16m

A staff of the NNPC Mega filling station in Hotoro area of Kano state was attacked by suspected armed robbers yesterday, carting away N16 million.

Reports say the suspected robbers armed with sophisticated weapons, carried out their attack when the staff was conveying N26 million in two sacks to a commercial bank in the area. One of the sacks contained N16 million while the other contained over N10million.

“All in all, there was over N26 million in the two sacks when the incident happened. The suspected robbers took away one of the sacks containing N16 million,” a staff who pleaded anonymity said

It was gathered that soon after the suspects snatched the money, they shot sporadically in the air to scare people and fled the scene.

Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Magaji Majiya, said three suspected staff of the NNPC Mega station had been arrested in connection with the robber and that the money they were conveying was from their sales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“As I am talking to you now, cashier one, two and their supervisor have been arrested in connection with the robbery. An investigation into the matter has commenced with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects,’’ he said.
