Ryan Giggs Reveals Why He Didn’t Become Man Utd Manager After Moyes Sack

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has opened up on not getting the manager job following David Moyes’ departure in 2014 and acknowledges that he probably won’t get another chance.

The Wales boss told The Greatest Game: “If I’m honest, I wanted the job [after Moyes was sacked]. But I wasn’t ready.

“I’m more ready [for the United job] now but I think that’s gone now, I think the chance has gone now. I think it’s gone, I’ve done it.

“I’m happy with the job I’ve got. I can’t see that coming around again.

“I must say I’m enjoying the [Wales] job at the moment. There’s lots of pluses, and there’s lots of frustrations.

“I think eventually I will want to go into club management, but when that is, I don’t know.”

Giggs also opened up on his first meeting with Van Gaal, claiming the Dutch legend punched him.

Giggs added: “I’ve gone to meet him a hotel, he’s opened the door, looked me up and down and gone ‘you are in good shape!’ then he punched me in the stomach.

“It was hard as well and I didn’t know what to do. You could have given something back but that’s me out of a job.
