Mohamed Salah has drawn level with Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s joint-top scorer in the Champions League.

The Egyptian netted Liverpool’s second goal during their 5-0 demolition of Atalanta in Bergamo.

The goal was his 21st in the competition, the same total that legendary skipper Gerrard achieved during his time at Anfield.

Salah has managed to match Gerrard’s record in just four seasons with Liverpool, that’s compared to the 17 that the now Rangers manager enjoyed.

Both men have won one Champions League for Anfield outfit, with Gerrard’s part in the stunning comeback against AC Milan going down in folklore.

Despite Salah earning the individual accolade, it was teammate Diogo Jota that took most of the plaudits.

The summer signing from Wolves continued his stunning start to life on Merseyside with a hat-trick against the Serie A outfit.

The Portuguse star now has seven goals in his first 10 games under Jurgen Klopp, as the clamour for him to permanently replace Roberto Firmino in the starting XI grows.
