As I reported last week, Warri based family Dr Henry A Owhojedo has entered a statement of oath that 12yo Sylvester Oromoni had an enlarged liver but was not taken to the hospital, instead for annointing at a church. Says it could be from beating, drinking harmful liquid, malaria or even sepsis which the second pathologist saw to determine a natural death.
My preliminary findings were that he may have been voluntarily hazed along with complications of a football injury but not taken to the hospital immediately which was negligence on the part of the parents. Sylvester’s body temperature reached almost 39°c which may signify Sepsis and a severe infection going on.
A bar association expert told me that the boy was obviously suffering trauma on two levels and the father allegedly wanted it to be seen as the bullying factor. The first person he confessed to now says he did not videotape the confession. Was be hazed voluntarily? He died and that equals manslaughter, Was he hazed by force?
Murder or was something being hidden from the hospital that made them choose church?
Oromoni Snr did not show up for court again yesterday.
He wants the students and housemasters to testify at the inquest. The case has partially STALLED.
