Prof. Florence Obi has been appointed as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar.
The one-time deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution emerged victorious over twelve others who were eminently qualified as well.
Chairman of the University Governing Council and the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu who made the announcement said the governing council was guided by the guidelines for the screening of a vice-chancellor as provided by the federal ministry of education and the screening exercise was transparent, free and fair to all participants.

It was also gathered that Obi contested for the same position in 2015 but lost. She is expected to resume duty on December 1, 2020.
