Having already settled well at Everton, Alex Iwobi has always been a superb player on the ball, yet Unai Emery had no room for the star in his strategy and sold him off to the Merseyside club.

Former Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu has questioned Arsenal’s decisions to sell his fellow Nigerian compatriot — who happens to be Jay-Jay Okocha’s nephew interestingly enough.

Looking at Iwobi’s form in Marco Silva’s team just four games into the season, (scoring in two of his first three games) would have you thinking the same.

“I would say they made a mistake, 100 per cent. Why they let him go, I don’t know.

“He’s a boy who, in and out, is Arsenal. He always wanted to do his best for the club. He loves the club, but not only that he can play football,” the former Arsenal forward said.

Kanu who feels that Iwobi was gravely underrated, could not understand the logic behind the decision to sell him.

“What he brings week in, week out, the fans need to appreciate that,” the former Super Eagles star added.

Despite the entry of Ivorian Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal and the splendid from they are showing, the former Premier League star still believes Unai Emery would have been better off Keeping the Nigerian.

“I think he is still young and those are the type of people you want in the team, people who grew up here, who know everything about the club and wants to die for the club,” Kanu said.
