If you love wizardry and you are a Potterheads then this is a welcome news. Any fan of J.K. Rowling’s epic tale of Harry Potter would no doubt jump at the chance to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and now they’re one step closer.
Jam City, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and Portkey Games are releasing a new role-playing game for your smartphone called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and many of the cast of the hit movies are involved.
Now to the fun part, the game will allow players to create their own character who will then experience life as a Hogwarts student. While the game is set at Hogwarts, don’t expect to see Harry Potter, Hermione Granger or Ron Weasley roaming the halls. The game is set in the wizarding world that fans of the books and movies are familiar with, but before Potter and his friends arrive. Although Potter won’t be part of the game, fans will see plenty of familiar faces.
Dame Maggie Smith and other cast members from the Harry Potter movies have all lent their voice talents to the game. Smith, who played Professor McGonagall is joined by Warwick Davis, who played Professor Flitwick; and Michael Gambon, who played Dumbledore; Sally Mortemore, who was Madam Irma Pince; Gemma Jones, who was Madam Pomfrey; and Zoe Wanamaker, who was Madam Hooch. The official Facebook for the app shared photos of Smith, Gambon and Davis posing alongside their game avatars, delighting fans at the prospect of seeing some of the favourite movie cast members reunited in the game.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be available to download in the App Store and Google Play Store on April 25. While the download will be free, in-app purchases will be available.
